We Are Grateful is a book written by 8 and 9 year old, Amarah and Mulemvo Nianda, Jr. These young authors wrote this book after having a realization of how grateful they are for the lives they have.

One day as Amarah and Mulemvo were preparing for their day, they began to complain about why they couldn't have a certain toy. Their mother asked them to write a letter of gratitude. It was her attempt of encouraging them refocus their energy from what they don't have to what they do have. After reading their letters of gratitude, their mother said, "This is a well written letter. You two should write a book." They quickly ran upstairs and begin to work on their book. Shortly after, they became published authors.

This book was written for families and community members to read together. The purpose of the book is to encourage school aged children to express gratitude and appreciation.
